ECHO
For this project as soon as I heard the brief "Echo", I thought of being a kid and yelling into a conch shell. My normal is visiting my friend's summer homes and you would usually find a conch shell at some point.
Then I started to think about when surfing and paddle boarding with my friends in the summer and this is where I shared some of my funniest and most vulnerable moments. We would hear a lot of conversions, music, and laughs coming from the shore as well. We were always being careful with what we said, so strangers on the beach could not hear my friends and I.
Then this made me think about how echoes represent any type of relationship. The sound you give in, gives back. Those who you give your energy into and tell them how they have impacted your life will reciprocate. Some people need a push or an opening and they will tell you how they feel. So I am taking this project as a love letter to my friends and family who have always told me how much they love me. So even thought without much time to always see or speak to each other we always know.
A lot of things have changed in the past few years for me and they will continue to, but everyone needs to have that comfort, safe-haven, space, and mine is the beach with the people I love.
